The framers of our constitution gave unselfishly of their years, labored in their hearts, charted a course on amazing and mysterious new ground for them and yet they rose to it and met it eye to eye. They mastered the concepts and legal language necessary a few short years since they were prisoners on a forced march and held in the stockades. Was it there that they came together and began to form what we have today? It just might have been. But what we do know is that they were the membership! They world watch real estate realized the importance of the membership there and then. That is why they in this wisdom called it out in our constitution loud and clear that the membership is 'the supreme authority'. 'Membership as the supreme authority' spells out our position in what actions take place in this tribe. In plain language "we are the bottom line". In all but a rare few instances, our constitutional mandate is that the membership be informed, brought together in an official membership meeting and asked to express our views regarding the matters at hand. In addition, we the membership, should first and foremost be able to bring our issues before the membership whenever we elect to do so. Elders who knew the possible pit falls of our future and like loving parents they prepared and equipped us through this document. We are the recipients of this wisdom. We are the beneficiaries of this great policy set forth in its pages insuring that our members will never fall to a corrupt, dictatorial administration.
